The Home Series

The Home Series is an ongoing artistic project, which uses poetry and creative writing to capture the stories and memories of community groups, in the places they call home.

Katie works with communities, including young people and schools in a series of creative writing workshops, an gathers the work into a finished zine for each person to have a copy. The zine is also distributed across the community to be accessed for free at various locations including local libraries.

This is Our Home

'This is Our Home' was the first zine of the series to be created in 2022.

It celebrates communities across Dudley, including writers from Sedgley Court Carehome, The What? Centre and independent submissions.

Funded by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, and supported by Creative Black Country as part of Arts Council Englands Creative People and Places scheme and CoLab Dudley.

Home in Solihull

These pieces were written in response to a series of creative writing workshops, as part of Culture Solihull's 'Small is Beautiful'

Some works have also been submitted independently.

This zine was launched on 9th February 2023, as part of the launch of The core Creatives Hub in Solihull. It was joined by 20 other commissioned projects that celebrated arts and culture in the region.

This book has been funded by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council as part of their Small is Beautiful Commissions

We Are Staffordshire

Commissioned by The We Are Staffordshire Young Peoples Working Group, through March 2023, Katie delivered workshops to schools across Staffordshire with the intention of answering the question 'what does Staffordshire mean to you?'.

Katie worked with Cheslyn Hay Primary School and Windsor Park Middle School.

The results of this work fed into Staffordshire day on 1st May; a program of exciting cultural events spread across the county.
