Dance Leaders Group

The Dance Leaders Group is a vibrant network of over 80 dance participation professionals from across the Midlands, united by a shared passion for collaboration, advocacy, and innovation in dance.

Katie’s involvement with DLG began in 2020 as a Young Leader on the #DanceConnect project. She quickly progressed through senior ambassador roles to project managing multi-stranded programmes, including the ongoing DLG & Critical Mass What Next? initiative.

As Project Manager, Katie plays a pivotal role at the heart of this network, overseeing day-to-day operations, coordinating the steering group, and managing marketing and communications.

As part of her project management, Katie delivers twice-yearly summit events, bringing together the network of dance professionals to collaborate, share ideas and discuss new opportunities to work together. Since Katie began her role, summits have grown from an average of 40 attendees, to nearly 80 at each event, creating the most diverse and inclusive gatherings yet, with strong representation from cultural communities and disabled artists.

She has also driven the growth of the successful sub-regional hub model. These 7 hubs are responsible for developing strategic sub-regional infrastructure to maximise collaboration and shared vision in order to build ambitious plans for the future and support connectivity within the region.

She also led the creation of four advocacy films promoting the importance of dance in education, targeting school leaders, policymakers, parents, and young people.

Alongside these core responsibilities, Katie contributes across a wide range of projects, championing dance participation and development throughout the Midlands.
