Imagine Bamboo

Imagine Bamboo is an ambitious public art, engagement and creative enquiry project, developed by Imagineer in collaboration with independent artistic director Orit Azaz. Now in its fifth year, the project brings together artists, designers, engineers and communities, from across the UK and beyond, to explore the exciting potential of bamboo as a sustainable material for the future.

In 2022, Katie worked as Assistant Producer, supporting the delivery of a large-scale public event as part of the Commonwealth Games cultural programme. Her role included coordinating logistics, supporting artist and partner relationships, and helping to facilitate creative engagement with communities.

The project featured striking bamboo structures co-created with international bamboo experts and local residents, and presented in Birmingham's Sunset Park. Katie’s contribution helped bring to life a joyful, participatory programme that connected environmental innovation with local pride and creative collaboration.
